The division for Idaho’s Department of Commerce is getting the word out that the Gem State sparkles when it comes to snow sports, a promotion that is funded through the state’s lodging tax, a two percent tax that is coming back to those who live in ski towns across Idaho.

County reacts to Fire-based EMS

Teton County Fire Chief Bret Campbell asked Teton County Commissioners to abolish the Ambulance Taxing District last Thursday, a move that would essentially end the contract for ambulance service with Teton Valley Health Care, allowing the Fire District to take over all EMS response. ...(more)

The Teton County Fire Protection District is seeking Teton County’s endorsement to provide ambulance service, but it does not need anyone’s approval to start the process that might ultimately eliminate a need for the Ambulance District, a taxing district that is governed by county commissioners. ...(more)

Bluebird skies brought backcountry enthusiasts out in force by New Years’ Day, even though current snow conditions are being compared to the winter of 2000-2001, a season when unstable snowpack resulted in seven avalanche-related deaths in the region according to Bridger-Teton Avalanche Forecast Center Director Bob Comey. ...(more)
