Timberline to reopen Monday

The Timberline Bar and Grille will reopen for business this Monday unveiling a new menu, new hours and renewed energy from new management.

“It will be a nice place to sit down and have a good meal and nice place to have a good time,” said Timberline manager T.J. Strahorn on Monday.

Strahorn and his wife Tiffany have been working hard to get the classic bar and grille ready for its grand opening. A handmade sign outside of the establishment along Hwy 31 in Victor reads, “Grand Opening Soon, Under New Management.” All day, people have been peeking into the heavy green door in the front looking for work and asking if they are serving lunch yet.

The Timberline will be open seven days a week with a limited menu on Sundays.

The grand opening will begin with dinner at 5 p.m. on Monday with the bar opening at 4:30 p.m. From then on, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving lunch and dinner with the bar open until 1 a.m. Strahorn is currently planning a New Years Eve celebration, complete with a band, a lot of dancing and simply a good time.

Strahorn’s sister-in-law, Tawny Bredehoft, a trained chef, will be at the helm of the menu whipping up family secret recipes that will include, “the best fried chicken in the valley,” Strahorn said.

And you will be able to get that to go. In fact, after the web site is online, residents will be able to order anything off the menu through the web for pick up or delivery. And that’s not all. Strahorn is planning to use the back dance hall and big screen TV for children’s movie afternoons where parents will be able to come in for adult time while kids may eat popcorn and watch a movie for free. And once Strahorn hits his stride, he would like to introduce weekend breakfast buffets, comedy nights, open mic nights and a few more tricks to keep you coming back.

And don’t worry. Those of you who are looking forward to watching your favorite team win or lose; there will be plenty of sports playing on any of the handful of television sets.

Strahorn is not new to the restaurant and bar business. He and his wife recently sold their share of “Mom and Dads” bar and restaurant in Soda Springs, Idaho heading out to Teton Valley where work was promised, but never materialized

Strahorn met Timberline owner David Owen through the Settlement subdivision, a development Owen built. At that point the Timberline had closed its doors, unable to find a buyer for the 70-year-old establishment.

On Tuesday, Strahorn is directing Silver Star with cable hookups; someone’s in the kitchen with sheet rock and someone else is at the front door wanting to talk about ATM machines. Hired to manage the Timberline, Strahorn, 31, who has three children himself, has his hands full and a community excited to see the doors reopen.

“The bar will be open, but we want to maintain a family atmosphere," he said. “We want to utilize this space for more than just the bar.”
